Berhampur: Continuing with its crackdown on history-sheeters in the district, police last night arrested notorious criminal Amit Das following an encounter in Digapahandi area.
As per the report, a team of Digapahandi Police carried out a raid on Amit following a tip-off on his presence late in the night. While Amit tried to escape from the spot finding the police team approaching him, he was caught subsequently without any gun battle, said police.
Police also seized one pistol and three live bullets from the possession of the criminal.
Amit’s TI parade will be held today, following which he will be forwarded to court, informed a police official.
Notably, Amit is the aide of dreaded criminal Jay Pradhan, who had been injured and nabbed in police encounter near Changudei hill on December 21. Amit had managed to give police a slip during the last raid.
Ms Kalinga
