Balasore: Police on Monday arrested a person on charges of thrashing his mother mercilessly in Baitapada village under Basta block in the district over family feud.
The accused has been identified as Sridhar Barik.
Sridhar faced sharp criticism in the village recently after a video featuring him roughing up his mother went viral on various social media sites. In the video the man was seen first beating up his mother with hand and then even kicking her for reportedly indulging in a quarrel with his wife. The accused son’s brutality continued despite all appeals by the victim mother for mercy.
Police started investigation and arrested the accused after Basta Block Security Officer lodged a case with it in connection with the incident on June 6.
The accused has been forwarded to court today.
