Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of BJP has announced it would gherao offices of all Superintendent of Police (SPs) in the state tomorrow in protest against the hooliganism of BJD activists during the ‘hartal’ over fuel price hike today.
“BJD workers today attacked many common people and their vehicles were damaged during the so called hartal. Leaders of BJD were behind it. We condemn it and will hold demonstration tomorrow in front of all SP offices,” said Odisha BJP state president Basanta Panda.
According to reports, many vehicles were damaged and some women, including a lady journalist, were manhandled by the agitators during the five-hour agitation of the ruling party over the steep hike in fuel prices.
Meanwhile, BJD claimed that neither Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik nor BJD support violence. Stray incidents during the ‘Hak Pain Hartal’ were public outburst over fuel price hike , senior BJD leader Debi Prasad Mishra said.
