VIMSAR Lady Doctor Dies under Mysterious Circumstances

Cuttack: A lady doctor, who was rescued under mysterious circumstances near a temple in the city, died at SCB Medical College and Hospital here while undergoing treatment last night. She was 47.

The deceased has been identified as Dr Sasmita Biswal. She was posted as Associate Professor in Department of Pharmacology at VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla.

According to sources, Dr Biswal was earlier found unconscious near Panchamukhi Hanuman temple in Khapuria area under Madhupatna police limits in the city. A syringe was also found injected into her body.

The locals rushed her to the hospital, but she succumbed during the treatment. Though the exact cause of her death is yet to ascertain after the autopsy report, the police said, it might be a case of suicide.

Police recovered a black bag containing some medicines, injection and some documents from the lady doctor.

A case has been registered and investigation is on, police added.
