truck looterMayurbhanj: Tmely action by residents not only foiled a truck loot bid but also helped police to nab the culprits red-handed In Sirsapala village under Morada police limits in the district on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at the Sirsapala square at around 10 o’clock in the morning today when some villagers spotted a speeding truck coming from the direction of Rasagobindpur. Finding that the truck was also being escorted by a car with a group of men on board, the locals smelt a rat and tried to intercept the vehicles. But both the vehicles tried to give them a slip. In the effort to escape, the driver of the truck lost control over the wheels and ended up hitting a roadside boundary wall.

The truth came to the fore after locals nabbed the injured driver of the truck along with another person in the car and thrashed them on the spot. The duo confessed that they were driving away after looting the truck.

Morada police reached the spot following the incident and rescued the looter duo from the clutches of the angry mob. Police also seized both the vehicles and has started an investigation.

A massive manhunt is on to nab the car-borne looters who managed to give the villagers the slip during the incident.
