UPSC Results: Hyderabad boy Anudeep tops, Odisha’s Subhankar holds 46th rank

Bhubaneswar: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the final results of Civil Services Examination-2017 on Friday and Odia boy Subhankar Mohapatra secured 46th rank in this prestigious test.

Hyderabad’s Durishetty Anudeep topped the list among a total of 990 candidates (750 men and 240 women) who were selected by the Commission this year to be appointed under various services. Anudeep, a BE (Electronics and Instrumentation) degree holder from BITS, Pilani qualified for the examination with Anthropology as his optional subject.

Similarly, Anu Kumari a BSc (Hons) in Physics from Delhi University was declared topper among the female candidates securing an overall second rank. Sachin Gupta secured the 3rd rank this year.

The Civil Service Preliminary Examination was held in June last year whereas the Mains exam was conducted from October 28 to November 3, 2017. The personality test was carried out from February onwards this year.

A total of 13 candidates from Odisha cracked the examination this year including 11 boys and 2 girls. While Subhankar topped the list among Odisha candidates, Amiya Prasanna Nanda (Rank 243) and Sumit Panda (Rank 251) followed him.

A total of 9,57,590 candidates had applied for the examination this year, out of which 4,56,625 candidates actually appeared. Among them 13,366 candidates qualified for the Main Examination. At least 2,568 candidates were chosen to appear the Personality Test by the UPSC.
