Unrest At Utkal Varsity Campus As Students ‘Gherao’ VC Office

Bhubaneswar: Tension gripped Utkal University campus here after students of different degree colleges under the university ‘gheraoed’ the office of Vice-Chancellor Soumendra Mohan Patnaik today, demanding the postponement of the fourth-semester examinations scheduled to start from May 4.

According to reports, students from as many as 40 colleges staged a demonstration outside the VC’s office demanding the postponement of Plus Three theory papers to June 17 instead of May 4, alleging non-completion of courses.

The students lifted the gherao after the University’s Controller of Examinations gave in to their demands.

As per latest information, the theory examinations will start from June 17 while the practicals will start from May 4.
