Ganjam: In yet another unfortunate incident, an unknown vehicle has rammed into a stationary pick-up truck parked on the roadside in Gangapur of Ganjam district. Due to the accident, the driver of the pick-up truck was killed while the helper was critically injured.
The incident took place near Indanapur village located in Gangapur tehsil of the district. The deceased has been identified as Rajkishore Digal while the critically injured is Jason Digal. According to sources, Rajkishore and Jason were transporting eating plates made from sal leaves from Kandhamal to Berhampur on the pick-up truck. Both the driver and helper had taken a break from their journey and parked their vehicle on the roadside when the incident took place.
The locals near the accident spot rescued the driver and helper and rushed them to Bhanjanagar hospital. While the driver succumbed to his injuries there, the helper was shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
