Bhawanipatna: While forest department officials are yet to trace and capture the unknown animal that has killed around two hundred sheep in Niali area in the last two months, a similar incident came to the fore in Kamalpur block of Kalahandi district on Sunday.
According to Narendra Sabar of Maharanapada village under Pandigoan panchayat in the district, two out of his 13 sheep went missing from the pen last night. However, he spotted the carcass of one of the sheep about 800 metres from his house this morning.
The sheep was found beheaded with its abdomen ripped apart. Besides, the liver of the sheep was missing. The other sheep is still missing.
Forest department officials have been informed about the incident. With the Niali incident still fresh in mind, the killing of sheep here has spread panic in the area.
