Union Budget-2018: BJD Stages Rail Roko in Berhampur, Sambalpur

Berhampur/Sambalpur: Protesting Centre’s negligence towards Odisha in the Union Budget-2018, hundreds of BJD workers along with their leaders staged Rail Roko at Brahmapur and Sambalpur Railway Stations this morning.

Shouting slogan against the BJP-led Union government, BJD’s Ganjam district unit staged one hour Rail Roko from 7 AM to 8 AM at Brahmapur railway station. They alleged that the state government had demanded Rs 6,500 crore for different railway projects in the state, but the Centre allocated Rs 5,252 crore.

They claimed that the Centre has completely ignored Odisha’s demands like the Rail Wagon factory in Sitalapalli of Ganjam district and new railway lines.

Puri-Ahmedabad and Fast Passenger trains were left stranded on the station following the Rail Roko of the state ruling party.

Likewise, the Sambalpur unit of BJD staged Rail Roko at Khetrajpur Railway Station for 30 minutes alleging Centre’s negligence towards western Odisha in the Union Railway Budget.

Hundreds of party workers and some leaders led by Sambalpur MLA Rajeswari Panigrahi staged the demonstration from 8 AM to 8.30 AM due to which the Bengaluru-Hatia Express was stranded at the station.
