Jaipur: In good news for unemployed youths of Rajasthan, one of the worst performing states in the country in terms of employment generation, they would get a hiked unemployed allowance starting from March 1, this year.
Making the announcement while attending a students’ union event at Rajasthan University recently, CM Ashok Gehlot said, it was a promise made by the Congress during the last Assembly election in the state. The count down for the unemployment allowance in the hiked rate has begun and under it, boys will be entitled to get an assistance of Rs 3,000 while girls will get Rs 3,500, he added.
Notably, the then Congress Government under Gehlot had launched the Unemployed Allowance Scheme in 2012. At that time the assistance figure stayed at Rs 650 for boys and Rs 750 for girls.
About 70,000 youngsters are of Rajasthan are currently reaping the benefits of the Unemployed Allowance as only those having a family income less than Rs 2 lakh per annum are eligible for it.
