Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, body of an undertrial prisoner was found hanging inside Jharpada Special Jail under mysterious circumstances on Saturday.
Sources said that the deceased has been identified as Jitendra Biswal, who was lodged in the jail in connection with a rape case. Biswal had earlier attacked his own advocate inside Bhubaneswar court premises couple of days ago.
Biswal’s family members have been informed about the incident by the police, added the sources.
Meanwhile, police have started investigation into the incident to find out the reason what led him to take the extreme step. Biswal’s mortal remains have been sent to the Capital Hospital for postmortem.
Earlier on Tuesday, Jitendra was in Bhubaneswar court along with his advocate and family members. However, an argument erupted between the accused and the lawyer over some issue which took an ugly turn following which the accused thrashed and abused his own advocate.
Badagada police had arrested him and lodged in the jail.
