Undertrial flees from Kendrapara Sub-Jail by jumping boundary wall

Kendrapara: An undertrial prisoner escaped from Kendrapara Sub-Jail here by jumping the boundary wall on Saturday.

The undertrial prisoner identified as Rangadhar Biswal of Mirjapur village under Nikirai Police Station had been lodged at the Sub-Jail for last four years in a murder case of 2014. His trial was underway at the Kendrapara District and Sessions Judge Court.

Rangadhar reached near the boundary wall very late in the night giving a slip to the guards and fled away in the dark after jumping it.

As per the police files Rangadhar had hacked a fellow villager Srikant Swain on February 28, 2014 over past enmity. On the day of the incident, Srikant passed lewd comments to Rangadhar over his past relationship following which the latter hacked him to death with a bill-hook.
