Unconscious Woman found on Puri-Satapada road, Rape suspected

Senseless woman rescued in Odisha, rape suspected Puri: A young woman was rescued by two locals of Bramhagiri on Puri-Satapada route late on Sunday night.

The woman, who belongs to Saliasahi slum in Bhubaneswar, sustained injury on her head and often lost her conscious.

According to reports, two men on a black-Pulsar waylaid a car and put the lady into the vehicle by force and asked the travelers to take her to Bramhagiri hospital. The bike-borne youths soon fled from the spot before the car driver inquired about them.

The two locals who were in the car rushed her to Bramhagiri hospital immediately, but doctors referred her to Puri District headquarters hospital as her condition was very severe.

On being informed, Puri police rushed to the district headquarters hospital and initiated an investigation into the matter. It has detained the two locals ,who carried her to the hospital, for interrogation.

Though the exact reason behind her injury and whole incident is yet to be ascertained, police suspected that the youths might have raped her on pretext of marriage.

The woman had a mangalsutra on her neck and sankha ( bangles) on hands. In addition, a small packet of sindur ( vermilion) was also found in her pant pocket, police said.
