Kalahandi: In a shocking incident, a man raped her minor niece in a forest near Bachaka village under Biswanathpur police limits of the district yesterday.
The accused uncle who has been identified as Sanyasi Bibhara has been detained by the police.
As per the complaint of the victim, Bibhara lured the eight-year-old girl by promising to give berries. He took her to the forest and allegedly raped her.
The class 3 girl student narrated the ordeal in front of her mother after returning home following which her mother lodged a complaint against the accused.
As per sources in the police, the girl was sent for medical examination, the reports of which are still awaited while the interrogation of the accused is on.
