Bhubaneswar: A misplaced bag near Birapurusottampur Railway Station near Pipili town triggered a bomb scare and left people in an absolute state of panic for over an hour on Friday.
The bag which was seen dumped and lying unclaimed near a bush close to the railway tracks was first seen by some commuters in the morning at around 11 AM. They called up railway police immediately and intimated about the matter.
Fearing that the suitcase could have carrying a bomb the railway authorities stopped at least five trains which had to pass through the route at the station and rushed GRP officials to the spot for inspection.
After the GRP officials seized and examined the bag it was found to be safe without containing any explosives or harmful substances.
The rail service through the station was restored till 12.30 PM.
