Two tiger cubs born in Nandankanan Zoo, tiger count mounts to 28

Bhubaneswar: In good news for animal lovers in the state, at least two tiger cubs took birth in the Nandankanan Zoological Park here on Saturday.

As per the report, tigress Renuka gave birth to both the cubs, whose gender identification is yet to be done by the Zoo authorities.

While, the first cub took birth at around 3.40 am the second one saw light a few times later.

Soon after the birth of the cub duo was put under CCTV surveillance and Veterinary team was engaged to keep a close watch on their health conditions, informed a source in the zoo.

Notably, tigress Renuka conceived after zoo authorities launched efforts of her mating with tiger Samrat inside enclosure as a part of their project to increase tiger population.

With the fresh birth of tiger cubs in the zoo, the total number of tigers in Nandankanan has mounted to 28.
