Udala: In yet another incident of mob justice in Mayurbhanj district, two middle-aged men were thrashed brutally in Kuldihi village under Kaptipada police limits near here on suspicion of being child lifters on Monday. Police reached the village and rescued the duo from the clutches of the villagers.
According to reports, the accused duo bore the brunt of public anger after some residents in Kuldihi village allegedly spotted them convincing two children to go with them. Going by the allegation of the villagers, the two were seen offering Rs 100 each to the two children to move with them to a nearby market. When the villagers inquired about their identity, they started giving contradictory statements. Suspecting them to be child lifters, villagers, including women, thrashed the two men mercilessly.
Kaptipada Police, which has taken the two men into custody, informed that they were from nearby Belagadia village and had been beaten up once earlier by the Hatimada villagers under similar circumstances.
Police has started investigation into the matter.
