Bhadrak: Two sisters drowned to death while taking bath in a village pond in Bideipur village under Basudevpur police limits this morning.
The deceased sibling duo has been identified as Papuni Mallick and her younger sister Pinki Mallick.
The mishap took place while both the daughters of Prashant Mallick were taking bath in the village pond. The younger daughter Pinki first slipped into the water due to the slimy steps of the pond and drowned. Papuni who made an attempt to save her sister also drowned in the pond.
Villagers rushed the sister duo to Basudevpur CHC after rescuing them from the pond in critical condition. The duo died under treatment at the hospital.
