Two Mobile ATM Vans Introduced in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Two mobile ATM vans of Axis Bank and ICICI Bank were rolled out in the state capital today. Additional Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Ananya Das inaugurated the service.

The service of the mobile ATM vans has been introduced to help the citizens in the time of cash crunch following lack of network at the normal ATMs of banks across the city following the devastation caused by severe cyclonic storm Fani on May 3.

“The ATM vans will help the people of the city as a number of ATMs are not working properly due to network problems. Both the vans will cover the entire city,” said Das.

Earlier the civic body on Wednesday has introduced micro ATMs in the city with the collaboration of Axis Bank. Micro ATM is a device through which a customer can get cash after swiping his/her ATM card and the cash will be given by a bank staff once the swipe is approved by the system.

A senior bank official said that unlike micro ATMs the mobile ATM vans will help people in getting more cash as per the withdrawal limit.

“The mobile ATM van service has been started especially for the post-cyclone situation and would continue till the ATMs attain normalcy,” said an official.
