Two minor sisters raped by married cousin in Odisha

Balasore: Two minor sisters were raped by their male cousin here. The minors’ father lodged a complaint in Khantapada police station on Thursday.

The victims are aged eleven and seven years. As per reports, the victims’ neighbour and cousin Santanu Patra aka Julu, aged 24, on Monday called upon the girls in the pretext of giving them chocolates. After brutally raping them, he also threatened them with murder if they revealed this incident to anyone. Santanu is married and has known the sisters since they were babies.

Scared of the consequences, the minor sisters did not reveal the happenings to anyone. However, they were experiencing severe pain in their private parts and that is how matters came to light.

Without wasting any time, the siblings’ father lodged a complaint. The police acted upon the complaint. However, the accused absconded when the police arrived. Prior to this, the mother of the accused had kept the doors of their house closed and not let anyone enter. It is suspected that the accused Santanu escaped sometime in between.

The Khantapada police have lodged a case under 202/19. Also under 171, the statements of the two sisters who were raped by cousin have been recorded. They have also been sent for a formal medical examination.
