Khurda: In a tragic road mishap on NH 16 near Kuradhamal chhak in the district on Monday morning, two persons died as a truck smacked into a bike from behind. Locals staged a road blockade following the incident bringing traffic on the route to a grinding halt.
The deceased have been identified as Gouranga Samantray of Kankadahada village under Bandida panchayat and Kabi Pradhan of Madhapur village in Kaipadar panchayat of the district.
Sources said the two deceased were on their way to Dalziput area on a motorcycle when the driver of a truck lost control over the wheels hitting them from rear. The duo bled profusely and died on the spot.
Locals torched the truck involved in the accident and staged a road blockade demanding suitable compensation to the kin of the victims. Vehicles remained stranded on both the sides of the road when this report was being written.
