Two injured in group clash in Rourkela; 5 held

Rourkela: At least two persons were injured following a group clash in Odisha’s Rourkela last evening. The injured persons have been identified as Rohit Patnaik and Raju Choudhary.

According to reports, a group clash ensued between the youths of Sadar Street and Muslim Street over past enmity at around 7 PM yesterday.

One Parvez of the Muslim Street reportedly had a heated argument with Rohit of Sardar Street over some past rivalry. Irate over the argument, Parvez fired bullets at Rohit.

Rohit sustained injuries on his left hand while another person Raju who was standing near him also received bullet injury.

Parvez fled from the spot after the duo raised alarm.

Meanwhile, both of them are undergoing treatment at Rourkela government hospital.

Soon after hearing about the firing, police rushed to the spot and started an investigation.

Cops also arrested five persons for their involvement in the group clash.

Two platoons of police force have been deployed in the area to maintain peace.
