Two injured after being shot at by miscreants in Sundergarh

Sundergarh: Two persons sustained injuries after three bike-borne miscreants shot at them near Kurei Panchayat office under Bakishankara block in Odisha’s Sundergarh district last night.

The injured have been identified as Hrudanand Barik, a contractor and husband of Kurei Sarpanch, and Ranandhar Singh, a local teacher.  They were rushed to a private hospital here. Their condition was stable, when the news was filed.

According to reports, Barik and Singh were talking to each other at around 10 pm near the Panchayat office three miscreants came in a motorcycle and opened fire on the duo before escaping.

The bullet barely missed Barik’s head, while the teacher suffered the bullet injuries in his stomach. Locals said, it might be an attempt to kill Barik over his alleged past enmity relating to his profession.

Meanwhile the Talsara police has initiated a case on attempt to murder charge. However, no one has been arrested so far in this connection.
