Two Industrialists Arrested For Abusing Additional Chief Secretary, MSME
Cuttack: Two industrialists have been arrested for allegedly misbehaving with Additional Chief Secretary, MSME, LN Gupta at Jagatpur Industrial Estate, police said today.
The senior IAS officer was on an official visit to the Industrial Estate on Tuesday afternoon in the aftermath of cyclone Fani.
Police said aggrieved over delay in restoration of electricity to the Industrial Estate, a mob of around 50 industrialists held Gupta hostage for around one hour. They also allegedly abused Gupta and took away the keys of his vehicle. They also scuffled with the police when police reached the spot to rescue the senior bureaucrat.
“Getting the information police rushed to the spot and rescued him. We have also arrested two people in this connection,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Akhileswar Singh.
Both the accused have been identified as Sudhakar Swain and Ashok Kumar Sahu. Police said that both the accused are owners of two industrial units in the Industrial Estate.
Police said that both the accused have been arrested under section 147 (punishment for rioting), 149 (offence by people of unlawful assembly), 323(punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 294(use of obscene language), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code.
