Cuttack: In a major breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police on Sunday arrested two gold bar looters from Cuttack. The arrested persons have been identified as Rajkishore Sahu and Jitendra Sahu.
As per reports, the accused duo had looted a gold bar worth Rs 36 lakhs from one Santosh Kumar Rana, a Balasore-based jeweller.
Rajkishore Sahu and Jitendra Sahu had reportedly contacted Rana to provide 1200 grams of ornaments instead of the gold bar weighing 800 grams.
As per their plan, Rana came to Cuttack on March 9 and handed over the gold bar to Rajkishore and Jitendra as they asked it on the pretext of testing the quality of the yellow metal. However, he lodged a complaint with Purighat police station on March 11 after failing to trace the duo.
