Two girls jump off moving train in Jharsuguda, critical

Jharsuguda: Two girls sustained critical injuries after they jumped off a moving train near Bagdehi railway station in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district on Monday.

The victims have been identified as Jyotsna Naik (20) and Dhanamati Majhi (19). Jyotsna lost her leg while Dhanamati sustained critical injuries on her head.

According to reports, Jyotsna and Dhanamati boarded Puri-Haridwar Utkal Express at Bamra railway station.  The duo jumped off from the train at Bagdehi railway station at around 11.30 AM.

The locals rescued both the girls and rushed them to Bagdehi govt hospital. As their condition deteriorated, the girls were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital here from where they were taken to Burla hospital for treatment.

While the reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, a probe has been initiated why and under what circumstances the girls jumped off the train, police said.
