Two Former Bank Employees Arrested By EOW For Fraud Of Rs 1.96 Crore

Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of state Crime Branch today arrested two former bank employees of Syndicate Bank, Burla branch in connection with a bank fraud of Rs 1.96 crore.

Police today arrested Subash Chandra Dash, former branch manager and Marianus Lakra, the former assistant manager of the branch for the fraud.

Police said that the accused sanctioned and disbursed 196 agriculture loans of Rs 1 lakh each to fictitious persons through forged documents between 2014 and 2016. “Investigation revealed that the accused had disbursed loans to few dead persons through forged documents. Lakra recommended for sanctioning of the loans while Dash sanctioned and disbursed the loans as the branch manager,” said an EOW official.

Police said that the case was registered on November 6 on the basis of a complaint filed by the regional manager of the bank.
