Bhubaneswar: The Special Squad and Khandagiri unit of the Commissionerate Police on Thursday arrested two hardcore highway looters and seized many stolen vehicles, mobile phones and two blood stained swords form their possession.
Following the recent reports of highway robbery which took place, especially between Janla and Jaydev Vihar in which cars and bikes were robbed after assaulting the victims, the Special Squad and Khandagiri police jointly had started investigation and successfully arrested the highway dacoits today.
The arrested looters have been identified as Krushna Das of Aigenia and Barun Patra of Raghunath Nagar.
One Hyundai i 10 car, one Pulsar, 2 Honda Hornet, 2 Honda Activa, 2 Glamour bikes, 10 stolen mobile phones, 2 blood stained swords used in the crime and one indigo car (bearing Regd No OD-02-U-0796) which was used in all the crimes have been seized from their possession.
During interrogation they confessed to the crime of the robberies they committed vide Khandagiri PS Case No 285 dt 05.7.18 u/s 394/397 IPC in which they looted one Hyundai I10 car after assaulting its owner.
Similarly, they are also involved in Nayapalli PS Case No 280 dt 6.7.18 and Jatni PS Case No 255 dt 6.7.18 where they looted one Pulsar and Honda Activa in the similar manner.
This apart, they have confessed to have involved in similar cases of Chandrasekharpur and Khandagiri.
While further investigation is going on, the accused are slated to be forwarded to the court later today.
