Two Cops Suspended For Road Mishap Killing Ravenshaw Student

Cuttack: Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cuttack Akhileswar Singh today suspended two policemen responsible for allowing a truck to pass on the road connecting Ravenshaw University killing one student on Thursday.  

Annapurna Choudhary, a +3 final year student of Economics department was killed yesterday after a truck hit the scooter on which she was riding in front of the University.

“Restrictions are already there on plying on heavy vehicles on the stretch. I have asked the ACP (traffic) to submit a report on the circumstances under which the truck was allowed to ply on the stretch. After getting the report one havildar and one constable has been suspended,” said Singh.

The DCP also said that the local police station has also been asked to ensure traffic regulation in and around the University. “ We have seized the truck and are also trying to nab the driver who has absconded after deserting the vehicle,” added Singh.
