Two burnt alive as trailer catches fire after hitting truck

road accidentSambalpur: The driver and helper of a tile-laden trailer were burnt alive when the vehicle caught fire after hitting a 407 mini truck from behind on NH-57 near Charamal in Sambalpur district on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident occurred when the trailer, going towards Cuttack, hit a mini truck from behind and turned turtle. The impact triggered fire in the trailer killing its driver and helper on the spot.

The accident also left the driver of the mini truck severely injured. He was rushed to Burla hospital in a critical condition. The helper is being treated at the local hospital.

The mini truck was on its way to Redhakhol from Sambalpur.

On being informed, local police arrived on the spot and started investigation. It is yet to establish the identity of the deceased and the injured persons.

Traffic was disrupted on the route following the accident.
