Two Arrested For Fraud In Balangir Central Cooperative Bank

Balangir: Balangir Town police today arrested two contractual staff of Balangir Central Cooperative Bank for allegedly stealing of Rs 8.31 lakh from the accounts of 12 customers.

Both the accused have been identified as Nilamani Tripathy and Swagat Mishra. Police said that Nilamani used a bunch of new ATM cards and their PINs, waiting to be delivered to customers and handed over those to his accomplice.

“Mishra on the other hand used the ATM cards in unguarded ATMs to withdraw cash. Misha also used a helmet to conceal his identity while withdrawing the money,” said a police official.

Police said that the manager of the branch has lodged a formal police complaint on November 4. “Further investigation is continuing to ascertain the possible involvement of others in the crime,” added the police official.
