Truck owners association observe dawn to dusk bandh in Sundergarh

Sundergarh: The truck owners association observes dawn-to-dusk bandh in Sundergarh town demanding hike in coal freight charges on Friday.

The truck owners are observing a 6 AM to 6 PM bandh demanding a hike in the coal transportation tariff, loading of cargo on a first come first serve basis, the truck are not getting proper token for entry into the mining area, the rate is not being mentioned on the shipment.

They have blocked Rani Bagicha Bypass, College Bypass, and Tollgate Bypass, the three entrances to Sundergarh.

Due to the bandh, vehicular movement has been hit and transportation of coal from the MCL has also been affected.

On Sep 8, there was scuffle between the truck owners and transport workers officials near Town police limits during the meeting regarding the coal freight charges.

They had met the District Collector seeking his intervention over the issue but failed to get any satisfactory answer, so they have called for Bandh today.
