Cuttack: At least three persons sustained critical injuries after a pulse-laden truck skidded off a bridge on NH-55 under Choudwar police limits and plunged into a canal in the wee hours today.
The incident took place at around 4 am while the truck in news was en-route to Angul from Paradip to deliver a pulse consignment. Possibly, the driver dozed off at the wheels and lost control over the vehicle, causing it to skid off the bridge and plunge into Nuntikiri high level canal.
As the canal was dry at the time of the incident, the vehicle got stuck in the mud leaving the driver and helper along with another person trapped inside it.
Police and Fire brigade teams from Choudwar rescued the victims from the overturned truck later rushed to SCB Medical in Cuttack.
Conditions of all the victims are stated to be critical.
