Truck Driver Issued Challan Of Rs 86500 Under Amended MV Act In Odisha

Sambalpur: A truck driver driving a truck with Nagaland registration number was fined a whopping Rs 86500 by transport officials under the amended MV Act.

However, the truck was released after the drive Asok Yadav paid a penalty of Rs 70000.

Though the incident took place on September 3, the truck was released on September 6 after Yadav paid the penalty.

Transport officials said that the truck was intercepted at Sarlakani area of Sambalpur district. The driver was penalised a total of Rs 86,500 including, General Offence- 500, Allowing unauthorized person to drive vehicle- 5000, Driving without valid DL- 5000, Carrying overload in goods vehicle- 56,000, and Carrying over-dimension load- 20,000.

The truck belonging to a Nagaland-based company BLA Infrastructure Private Limited was loaded with a JCB machine. It was on its way to Chhattisgarh from Talcher Town of Angul district when it was intercepted by officials in Sambalpur.

“After he produced documents the amount of penalty was settled to Rs 70000. After he paid the penalty the truck was released,” said Motor Vehicle Inspector, Sambalpur RTO, B.Samanta Singh Ray.
