Tributes paid to Biju Patnaik on 21st death anniversary

Bhubaneswar: Rich tributes were paid to legendary leader Biju Patnaik and people from all hues of life recalled his contribution in building up the modern Odisha on his 21st death anniversary today.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik offered floral tributes at his father’s statues located on the premises of Odisha Legislative Assembly and Forest Park amidst a crowd of party men and supporters. He is also scheduled to offer tribute to the iconic leader at Biju Patanaik Memorial located near Swargadwara in Puri later in the day.

Similarly, members and workers of the ruling BJD party, which had been named after the legendary leader, gathered at the banks of Bindu Sagar pond near Sri Lingaraj Temple in the city led by State Culture Minister Ashok Panda and MP Prasanna Patasani and observed the ‘Tila Tarpan’ ritual.

BJD has planned a host of events to mark the day across the state and lined up several public meetings to recall the late visionary.

Internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sand sculpture at the Biju Patnaik International Airport to pay tribute to the ‘great statesman’.
