Bhubaneswar: The Badagada police under Commissonerate Police arrested Pan India Leisure and Holidays Pvt Ltd owner on Wednesday night from Rairangpur of Mayurbhanj district. The accused has been identified as Smruti Ranjan Biswal.
According to reports, Biswal and his wife used to collect money from people, thorugh their city-based travel agency, by promising to make their travel hassle free. They used to deal with tour packages of countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Bangkok. However, the travel agency turned out to be a fraud as it allegedly duped over Rs 40 Lakh from around 30 people.
The matter came to light when one Gopal Pruseth, who has been cheated to the tune of Rs 90, 000, filed complaint with the police following which Biswal and his wife were reportedly absconding for months until police nabbed him yesterday. But, his wife is still at large.
