Train service hit in several parts of Odisha due to waterlogging

Bhubaneswar: Due to the torrential rain and flood situation triggered by it, train service has been badly affected in several parts of Odisha today.

Due to the floodwater ingress into the railway tracks in Sambalpur-Titlagarh section today, at least three trains remained stranded at different stations giving tough time to the commuters.

While, Ispat Express was halted near Dunguripalli due to the washing away of railway tracks following heavy rain, the Sambalpur-Rayagada Express has been stranded at Barapali in Bargarh district following a similar situation.

Later, Ajmer-Puri Express was also halted at Loisinga in Bolangir district due to heavy water flow on tracks.

In another step, the Railway Department cancelled the Rourkela-Jagdalpur Express from Rourkela today and Jagdalpur tomorrow due to the flood situation at various places on its route.

The step has been taken for safety and security of the passengers and the train services will resume once the flood water recedes from the tracks, informed officials.
