Angul: Days after posting videos on social media accusing her mother of practising adultery and driving her out of home, a girl attempted suicide in Kumand village under Angul police limits in the district on Thursday.
The victim identified as the daughter of one Pradeep Kaumar Sahu of the same village attempted suicide at a friend’s house where she was staying for last two years by consuming some anti-depressant drugs. She took the extreme step hours after posting a video again on her Facebook wall, this time conveying about her extreme step.
The victim was immediately rushed to Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) by some neighbours in a critical condition and is currently under treatment.
Earlier on May 18, the girl uploaded at least two videos to Facebook. In one of those videos taken at her home featured her mother verbally abusing her against staying at home and threatening to burn alive. In the second video, the girl was seen accusing her mother of maintaining illicit relationship with a number of men and forcing her to follow her footsteps. The victim at that time had sought immediate intervention of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the case.
Angul Police has reached the hospital and started investigation.
