Tipper crushes 2 minor boys including Gupchup seller in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: In a tragic incident two minor boys including a gupchup vendor were killed on the spot on Thursday as a Tipper vehicle crushed them in a road mishap in Keonjhar district of Odisha. Following the accident, the locals staged road blockade demanding compensation for the family of the deceased.

The deceased boys have been identified as 13 year old Laxman Bhagat of Kalimati area and 14 year old Kismat Munda, son of Chandra Munda.

As per reports, Laxman Bhagat was selling gupchup on the roadside at the Kalimati Chowk at about 6 pm on Wednesday. Kismat Munda, a Class IX student was consuming gupchup nearby when a mineral laden Tipper vehicle crushed the two to death. Both of them got killed on the spot.

The vehicle, bearing registration number OR-09 H 6073, was on its way to Nayagarh Rail siding.

Following the accident the locals staged road blockade demanding compensation for the families of the deceased boys.

After getting information, Bamebari Thana Police reached the spot and tried to convince the irate mob but in vain. The protesters demand that the mines administration should come to the spot for negotiation. Later, after intervention of high level officials, the road blockade was lifted. Police have seized the Tipper vehicle that met the accident.

It has been alleged that small and big road mishaps are occurring frequently in this area as hundreds of vehicles ply daily to different locations. However, despite this fact no permanent arrangement has been made so far to address this issue.
