Angul: Royal Bengal tigress Sundari was tranquilised by a team of expert near Majhipada forest in Odisha’s Satkosia Tiger Reserve, informed PCCF (wildlife) chief Sandeep Tripathy on Tuesday.

Elephant Jasoda of Chandaka forest  was used in the tranquillisation, he added.

The State Forest Department had decided to tranquilise the tigress Sundari after two persons were allegedly attacked and killed near the Satakosia Tiger Reserve.

On June 28, the tigress was brought to Satkosia wildlife sanctuary from Madhya Pradesh’s Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve as to increase the big cat population in Odisha.

However, Satkosia witnessed violence by local residents after Sundari allegedly killed two locals including a woman.
