Three youths go missing in Kushabhadra River in Odisha

Puri: In a tragic incident, three youths went missing after drowning in Kushabhadra river’s Dihrapur Ghat in Nimapara of the district today.

According to reports, the youths drowned in the river while taking bath today.

On being informed about the drowning of the youths, local fire services personnel rushed to the spot and started a search operation with the help of the locals and police.

Later, a team of the Orissa Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) arrived at the spot.

Meanwhile, the bodies of two youths have been fished out by the rescuers, said sources.

The deceased persons have been identified as Tejeswar Mahanty of Matiapada village in Puri district and Kamal Lachan Jena of Nimapara. While Tejeswar was a  student of Nimapara Autonomous College, Lachan was studying at Nimapara-based DAV school.

The other youth who is still at large has been identified as Jyotiranjan Sahu of Syamasundarpur village. He was a student of Nimapara-based Swadhin Residential College.

A pall of gloom descended on the locality following the unfortunate incident.
