Jajpur: Three workers were killed when a speeding truck hit them in Kalinganagar area of Jajpur district this evening. Another labourer also sustained critical injuries in the road mishap that took place at BRPL Square in Kalinganagar area of the district.
According to sources, the unidentified speeding truck hit them, who are workers of JUSCO company, while they were retuning back to their rooms from work.
While three of them died on the spot, the injured worker was admitted to Danagadi hospital. However, his condition is stated to be critical.
Acute tension prevailed on the spot following the road accident as the co-workers blocked the road demanding the arrest of the accused persons and compensation for the kin of the deceased labourers.
Police force have bee deployed to avoid any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, cops have initiated an investigation into the matter.
