Kendrapara: At least three persons have been arrested for assaulting a newly-married woman at Kora village under Nikirai police station in Kendrapara district of Odisha recently.
Nikirai police arrested the accused who is identified as the uncle-in-law of the woman Sarat Chandra Nayak, and his sons Muna and Niranjan of the same village.
According to reports, the woman, identified as Suchismita Pradhan, had married to one Jitendra. This had led to some family disputes following which Jitendra and his family members used to live apart from Suchismita.
On the other hand, Suchismita used to live alone in a house. However, she had a heated argument with Jitendra’s maternal uncle’s family members as they claimed that the house where she was staying belonged to them. Their argument took ugly turn when they started beating up her in public on April 2.
The victim woman’s uncle-Radhakant Rout had filed a complaint in this regard based on which Sarat and his sons have been arrested.
Further investigation is underway.
