Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police today arrested three persons in connection to the brutal murder of Amaresh Naik in Sunderpada area under Airfield Police limits here in Odisha on Diwali night.
The accused have been identified as Sankar Bastia (24), Jagdish Jagendra (22) and Jitendra Mallick (21).
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Anup Kumar Sahoo said that an eyewitness in the incident has identified as many as 10 persons involved in the crime. “We are trying to nab the rest accused involved in the murder. Investigation so far revealed that the motive behind the crime was dispute between two groups in the area,” said Sahoo.
Amaresh and his friends were bursting crackers on the fateful night when a group of people arrived at the spot and tried to prevent them from doing so. The discussion turned into a heated argument. Soon after, the group attacked Amaresh with sharp weapons and wooden planks leading to his death.
