Bhubaneswar: We have come across such instance in Bollywood film ‘Ek Villain’ where Riteish Deshmukh’s character Rakesh Mahadkar uses to do. He kills women and snatches gold from them which he presents to his wife.
In such an incident, a hard core criminal from Bhubaneswar of Odisha recently was heard telling a prisoner inside the jail that he had looted gold and gifted it to his girlfriend. This criminal has been lodged in jail in another case of gold jewellery loot.
As per reports, a group of miscreants had trespassed into a house N4/263 in Nayapalli area of Bhubaneswar with an intention of loot in between 9.10 pm to 10 pm on July 26 last year. During this loot bid they had attacked Tulasi Dei (70) and snatched away a gold chain weighting 100 gram and a pair of gold earring that she had worn.
Due to the attack the old woman sustained critical injury and was admitted to a hospital. However, later she succumbed to the injury.
This above episode came to light as the prime accused of this crime Narayana Mohanty was narrating it to another under trial prisoner inside the jail. He told the other prisoner that the gold he had gifted the gold that he had looted from Tulasi Dei to his girlfriend. In his statement to Police Narayana said that he had gifted the gold to his girlfriend Priyanka Mohanty.
Narayana had been arrested on August 8, 2020 along with his girlfriend Priyanka and aide Rahul Mohanty and Pranab Mohanty from Khandagiri Police station area for loot of gold jewellery. Narayan said in his statement to Police that he had attacked a person with sharp weapon and snatched gold from him.
Nayapalli Police in Bhubaneswar on Saturday has taken this hard-core criminal on remand for two days.
