Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police (CP) arrested a thief and seized five bikes and 15 mobile phones from his possession.
The city police identified the thief as Sunil Kumar Dalei (25) of Banapur in Khurda district.
According to reports, one Achyutananda Patra had reported that mobiles, cash, money purses, wristwatches and other materials were stolen from him near Reserve Police Line in Bhubaneswar on March 5.
Other cases like the theft of a motorcycle from the premises of Utkal University were also reported at the Saheed Nagar police station.
While probing the cases, the city police, acting on a tip-off, detained Sunil on Monday. During interrogation, he confessed his involvement in several robberies that took place in Saheed Nagar, Buguda, Cuttack and Khurda, following which he was arrested.
The accused was forwarded to the court today.
