Diversity key to India’s success: President Kovind
New Delhi: Soon after being sworn in as the 14th President of India today, Ramnath Kovind said diversity is the key to Inadia’s success.
“We are a country of great diversity; the key to India’s success is its diversity,” Kovind said in his maiden speech after becoming the President. “We are a peaceful nation and are now at a stage where we have to take the country forward. We are proud of our heritage and culture. It is now time we show the world what India is capable of since India’s voice counts in today’s world,” he said.
The President stated that every Indian is contributing towards nation building.
“Today, women and men are working hard and standing shoulder to shoulder in all fields of life. Our farmers and scientists work day and night to make us all proud. We are proud of our teachers who are giving good values and educating the generations to come and the soldier who ensures that were are all safe”.
Kovind was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of India Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar at a special function in the Central hall of Parliament today
The oath taking ceremony was attended by the outgoing President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda, Members of Union Council of Ministers, Veteran BJP leader LK Advani, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, BJP chief Amit Shah, Chief Ministers of several states, MPs and leaders of other political parties, and other distinguished people from different walks of life.
