Tensions run high at Balangir’s Bhima Bhoi Hospital over faulty blood report, prescription

Balangir: Tension ran high at Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital here in Odisha on Tuesday after faulty blood report was issued and later the doctor prescribed medicines to a three-year old patient meant for a 53 year old patient.

According to reports, parents of Aniska Behera, who hail from this district headquarter town,   consulted a paediatrician of the hospital on Saturday after the girl child complained of fever.

While examining the girl child, the concerned paediatrician asked the parents of Ansika to conduct her required blood test in the same hospital. Consequently, Ansika’s blood was taken for the said blood test.

Later, Ansika’s father collected the blood report and showed it to the concerned paediatrician on which the doctor also prescribed some medicines and syrup for the girl child.

Ansika’s father also collected the medicines and syrup for her daughter as per the prescription.

However, to his surprise Ansika’s father later came to know that he was given the blood report of a 53 year old male patient and the doctor also prescribed accordingly. The medicines were meant for a 53-year-old patient.

Ansika’s father today met the hospital superintendent requesting him to take action against the doctor and pathologist responsible for the incident.

Meanwhile, hospital authorities have formed a team to probe the matter.
