Tension in Ramadevi over ‘Note for Vote’ during students’ polls

‘Note for Vote’ during students’ election in Ramadevi Women’s University Bhubaneswar: Tension ran high at Ramadevi Women’s University here after a group of students accused another of distribution of cash among students to vote for particular candidates in the Students’ Union Election on Saturday.

A political party alleged that its challengers distributed rose to the voters with some cash. They also shared the photograph of a girl of the University with a bouquet of roses and a Rs 500 note in the social media.

Sources said that students of the only university in Bhubaneswar which went to the poll this time alleged that the cash was being distributed by the activists of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD).

“Members of BCJD distributed cash along with roses to the voters. Some of our students have clicked the pictures. It is very unfair that cash is being distributed among the students. We were threatened by the activists and some ex-students of the party when we opposed their illegal activities,” alleged a student.

However, BCJD members refuted the allegations.

Tension sparked off outside the campus for quite some time, but normalcy was restored soon due to elaborate security arrangements made for the polls which went off peacefully.

The results will be declared soon after the counting of votes that will begin after voting ends at 2 PM.
